Pros

- They are fairly flexible with scheduling. - Personalities that exhibit flattering and slimy tendencies will excel here. - It's a good 'low point' to start from in order to motivate you to find a better job.

Cons

- ALL the managers are sneaky, inconsistent, and generally unqualified to be part of an effective management team. - Team members who put on a facade and are utterly submissive to management whim are quickly promoted; whether or not more qualified persons were in line for the promotion. - Management and team leaders alike play an excellent game of pass-the-buck. No one takes responsibility for their actions or their team. Instead, they place blame on the easiest targets: the team members. - Team members who work hard and try to represent the company well will be abused by the service coordinators, while those who can weasel their way out of an entire day's work are adored by management. - When problems arise, promises are made by management, but never kept. - When good workers leave because of the abuses suffered, they are asked to 'go on leave' and not actually quit, so that the already horrendous turnover-rate will not become worse. - The pay is horrible for what you are asked to do. Check out customers, bag their groceries for them, deal with complaints because the management doesn't want to, and clean up other people's screw-ups for $7.25? No thanks. - No concern for the safety of guests or employees. When a tornado was in the very near vicinity of the store, management refused to warn their customers and forced the cart pushers to go back outside in the dangerous conditions. - You only get 12 disciplinary points. They add up quick and management will hold them over your head. - A 8 hour shift, according to Union, is supposed to receive lunch and two 15 minute breaks. A lot of people don't get to see that last break. - When you tell team members at other Meijer stores which store you work at, the sympathetic looks they give you leaves you completely embarrassed. - This store is the BLACK HOLE of all Meijer stores. Sexual harassment, corporate theft, managerial bullying, and general bad business practices are allowed to continue because corporate repeatedly turns a blind eye. These issues have been constantly reported and continually ignored.

Pros

For the most part, they can work around most schedules which makes it a wonderful place to work if you are a student or a busy mother. You receive regular raises based on hours worked. At times there are so many customers in the store that it makes your day go by rather quickly.

Cons

Many workers feels that the quality of their work is overlooked by overworked managers. The more you do the more they want.
