Pros

Great with scheduling. At similar stores, they would only let you change your availability once or twice per year. They also generally do give me the holidays I request off. I made a little bit more than what I made at Kroger.

Cons

I make less than my similar job at Wal-mart paid (at the current pay scale, I would start out at 7.30 with no pay raises and Wal-mart started me at 8.10). I was treated better at Wal-mart. For part-timers, the raises are the same as it is a set raise at a set time (700 hours or a 1000 hours) and it is about the same time frame as Wal-mart raises. Managers have told me that second shift is not guaranteed a time off whereas Wal-mart's philosophy is that you leave when you are scheduled. Now, it wouldn't be so bad except that we are stuck doing projects till 8 or 9 pm and we have two to three hours to "close" a department. Then if we are done in time, the managers usually are closing down the registers or they are going out to the gas stations. Sometimes it is a half an hour wait for a walk-through (something that Wal-mart no longer does). Not to mention that the managers at this store are petty. They will become territorial and they will be jerks to certain department by keeping them over or refusing to give them help. I can see an occasional twenty to thirty minute over the scheduled time out once every three months, but weekly? That shows poor time planning on the managers' part and the assistant store manager who makes the schedules. Managers are unprofessional and they all seem a little bit bipolar. They will scream at us at one moment for something beyond our control but then turn around and be really nice to us. I have been screamed at because my second department was a mess (first shift does not straighten anymore) and I came in later. Then ten minutes later I had to take up several large items for a customer to the service desk, my manager called me on my phone and started screaming about the department even though I was already in the first aisle of it. This has happened to two other coworkers. And then comes the issue of cutting out an entire team and then they wonder why the store's cleanliness has gone down the drain along with "other" team member's friendliness. It went down because no one is straightening the aisles in the morning (not that they did a good job before) and that it is hard to find the people who are working in the morning because they are usually in the back working on a project. Also, if you do wander around the store and wonder why you can never find anybody, it is either because we are doing what the former IA's used to do or we are running lane. I had a customer come to my lane and then complain about how I disappeared and ended up on lane because service didn't have enough cashiers scheduled. Sorry I couldn't help you find that item you wanted, especially as I know exactly where it is. It used to be better when I first started, but then I went on education leave. It has gone downhill and the reason why no one leaves is because we can't find better jobs.

Pros

They are very flexible with time off requests (except during the holidays)Pretty good benefits, mostly good people to work with. The incentive pay is also nice.

Cons

Management is not down to earth about a lot of things. This mainly comes from the corporate office who is out of touch when it comes to how a store actually runs as compared to a model of how it should run. Pay is horrible compared to competitors and raises are only given at pre-determined times.
