Pros

weekly pay & working very close

Cons

I was hired as “part time” but was working full time hours EVERY week..I brought it to their attention (the pharmacist that made the schedule) and he said “it’s bc we’re short staffed and once I get more people in here it will hopefully change” I then asked for an extra day off and he then told me he could see what he could do but it wouldn’t be every week EVENTHO I was part time!! I had to tell the pharmacist which days I needed to be off by a certain time or which days I needed off and he would see if he could “work” with that -Only a month working there I had two co workers tell me that I was slow at my job and i needed to hurry up all because our queues were in the red eventho it had been like that all day because it was so busy…Pharmacist found out..asked if i was okay..didn’t have them apologize to me, nothing. -Another pharmacist on my last day was super controlling and kept telling me to get off the computer when I was working on something & to “go to the register, when you see a customer you go to the register” when there was a customer there and another tech helped them he got angry and asked me why I wasn’t at the register everytime being very demanding and then towards the end of my shift he came over and laughed in my face asking why I was acting “so scared” of answering phones (which I wasn’t) -PTU: I was only given maybe once or twice a week for only 4 hours of PTU computer training while another co worker was allowed to go do the computer training every shift she was scheduled during the week even if it was 3-5 hour shifts. -I reached out to HR and left her a voicemail hoping she would reach back out to me and ask me what happened but that never happened…just removed me from the system. -the customers SUCK and they’re rude and demanding *THIS IS THE LOVELAND, OHIO MEIJER PHARMACY*

Low pay & lack of advancement

Pros

Good people and truly down to earth coworkers Under certain managers you will have 0 human stress

Cons

Lots of work, you are doing 3 people work & regardless the company knows that they won't hire more people. Yet pay scale is so low compared to competitors. You will get 3-4% max for your salary raise even though you are high performer. Advancement is not possible and VP announce that in the meeting all the time. "We appreciate you" but there is no compensation and their benefit is not competitive at all yet management make it sounds like it's the best

Pros

-Everyone I worked with was truly down-to-earth, kind, positive, and supportive. Everyone wants to see you succeed and wants you to enjoy your day-to-day work. -Very positive culture. -I started right when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and having now since moved to another company, I'm surprised at how well Meijer adapted to working remotely and how they figured it out so quickly. I didn't realize until I left that that isn't the case with all companies. -Upper management truly does listen, and more importantly take action on, employee feedback. They really do listen and care. -Employee recognition is highly valued and encouraged, both formally and informally. It sounds so simple and small, but I didn't realize until I started working for Meijer that a quick, "Hey, good job on that work!" really does make a huge difference in employee satisfaction. -The Digital department is very forward-thinking, and open to employees' ideas to improve the app, website, and other digital touch points to make the best experience for their customers. -During uncertain economic times due to the pandemic, I was grateful to be in an industry that is actually thriving. Job stability and security was a huge plus.

Cons

-I was a long-term contractor (told by the contracting agency throughout my interview and offer process that it was a 9-month contract-to-hire role, which then, months after I started, they later said it would be long-term contract indefinitely, but that's another whole story). When I joined, I was truly shocked at how many contractors Meijer uses. I would say of the several hundred people in the Digital department, probably 85% were contractors, may of whom had been there for years. I don't know why Meijer doesn't convert their contractors to FTE, especially for those who want to be converted and for those who have been there for years. -Because of the point above, there was a LOT of turnover on my team. In the year I was there, I'd say about half of my team left for other opportunities. -That being said, I would say that the pros outweighed the cons during my time at Meijer. If I could give 4.5 stars I would!
