Pros

There is work life balance, most days I left work by 5:30. The salary is decent for the cost of living if you come from the outside. I found that people who worked there and worked their way up were paid considerably less than people they were bringing in from the outside. I enjoyed working with most of my co-workers.

Cons

Not much room for advancement. There is definitely friction between the people who have been with the company since they were 18 and worked their way up from the stores to the corporate office and the people who are being brought in from other companies for their expertise. The people who have worked there for years think things are fine and don't want to change. Some of the managers are intimidated by the new talent the company is bringing in as well. There are people in the organization who do not care for diversity and would rather is be an all caucasion environment

Pros

I llove the job that I am assigned to do. The people are inspiring. I love helping a person find what they need in our store, and having them satisfied.

Cons

1. There is little consideration for an employee;s feelings. It is all about business needs. Meijer promotes famliness, however, rareley gives it. if you choose to become a manger there, be sure to plan on missing everything from you child's birthday, to Christmas Eve. 2. You get very little feedback from senior management. If you have completed a work list, and have done it well, they are sure to find SOMETHING wrong with it, because it wasn't 'their" idea. 3. The labor we are given is VERY srigent. NOT enough people to completely take care of anything! 4. The stress level is so high some days. I know t=of 2 people that have had heart attacks in the last year because of the demand of the job.

Pros

I think the only best reason is if you work in a department you enjoy. After a while, you'll get drained though.

Cons

You can never take a vacation. Never EVER request days off between oct-dect. I had this job during college and sure, it's great for a college kid but $7/hr won't pay the mortgage. Meijer is extremely greedy when it comes to money.
