Pros

Melaleuca is a wonderful place to work. The benefit package is very good with a monthly profit sharing opportunity, a unique longevity bonus program, and a monthly product training check. The work is fast pace and challenging, but opportunities to grow are plentiful. The company encourages you to take an active roll in helping the company be successful, and provides a financial incentive for cost saving ideas that are implemented. I believe Melaleuca is truly the best place to work in Southeast Idaho.

Cons

Melaleuca tends to operate in a very lean manner. Financial growth has been exponential over the past 10 years, but the headcount in my department has not changed during that time. We have had to find new ways to be more efficient, and to do more in less time. To be successful you have to be innovative, willing to work very hard, and "wear many hats."

Pros

The people here are amazing, they're just good people, and they have a healthy working environment. Great opportunity for growth- it's the headquarters of an international company so there are a lot of departments equalling a lot of room to grow in different areas. The benefits are the best in this area with an onsite fitness center and restaurant plus the medical benefits and free products are fantastic as well.

Cons

They demand a lot out of their employees sometimes with unrealistic timelines but they still manage to get the job done.

Pros

It is surprising how much responsibility people are given here even though they are often fairly new in their careers. I've seen a kid less than 5 years out of school managing the flagship brand. I see brand new analysts fresh from college that are meeting with VPs and working on things like pricing and product development. And even for the folks that end up elsewhere after a few years, I've noticed that their experience here is so significant to the organization that it really sets them up well for the next step. This is a place where if you do well, it won't be long until you are working on things that are "announced on stage." It would be hard to "hideout" here. If you are good, the exec office will call you to have you work on a project. That's an exhilarating thing.

Cons

If you like work flexibility because you are a little bit lazy, this probably won't be a good fit. For example, people work the entire day on Friday. That was a bit of a shock to me, I'm used to a fast past pace and urgency, but I was accustomed to Fridays, at the office at least, ending at 2pm. Idaho Falls isn't for everyone. I like it, but I get why people wouldn't. Housing prices have risen rapidly recently, which has been great for me, but for a newcomer, it wouldn't be. It feels like it is on the edge of really exploding, but it's not quite there. It's right in the center of some of the greatest outdoor destinations in the country. So I love it. But if your thing is shopping malls, you'd probably not like it.
