A reasonable stepping stone job

Pros

The people I work with are nice, polite, hard working and generally smart. The company has some fun perks, like the cafeteria and the product education certificates. Most people are well balanced between wanting to do a great job and also getting home to have family time.

Cons

The higher up the food chain you go, the more homogenous the company becomes. Even though there's reasonable pockets of diversity in some parts of the company, it's ultimately a small town company run by lots of old white men with Regan era personalities. That's not a terrible thing. But if you don't fit a certain mold, it's clear your advancement opportunities are limited. Pay is middle of the road, and yearly increases don't keep up with inflation.

A great employer for East Idaho

Pros

Decent pay for the area. Longevity bonuses and profit sharing are good. Very nice office facility. They care about their employee's well-being and encourage a healthy lifestyle. On-prem gym that's free if you commit to using it. Free, high-quality products every month.

Cons

401k match is pretty low (2.5% max) and the employer match is only done once per year at the end of the year. So you lose interest in compounding. It's pretty high stress - maintaining a healthy work/life balance is a struggle.
