      Pros

      Large, multicultural patient population offers exceptional experience in clinical, technical, and interpersonal skills. Very rewarding experience for those able to function in an incredibly fast-paced environment.

      Cons

      Patient acuity has always been a neutral issue. ICU beds are limited to those clinging on to life, therefore causing the step-down and acute units to also be very high acuity many times without proper staffing and resources. Recent budget changes have made a desperate situation even more desperate.

      Pros

      Historically a stable environment. Historically has provided good patient care. Great locations close to home. Relatively flexible work schedules. Opportunity for advancement.

      Cons

      Most recently, waves of layoffs continue. Lack of consistent, sincere, candid communication from executives. Lots of politics especially in the director and above levels. Lack of professional respect. Too many young execs with personal agendas. In the last few years, the culture has declined. It is sad to see the cultural deterioration.
