      Pros

      People care about their work and patients. There are opportunities to advance.

      Cons

      Need more staff to accomplish goals. Even with overtime, staff is burned out, although management still leaves early.

      Pros

      I valued and enjoy my team members that I work with daily. Our unit has a family-feel and staff know each other very well, and really care about each other.

      Cons

      PTO accrual rate is poor, and does not supplement for the loss of sick time (employee illness bank). Short-term disability does not begin to compensate employees until after 40 hours of PTO have been used. HR is not transparent regarding pay scale related to job status changes (I was advised to consult with this website for pay scale reference). There is currently no pension plan, therefore, no incentive to stay with the company. This company did not offer student loan forgiveness, and tuition reimbursement is an arduous and complicated process, which comes with an additional work commitment for a further two years. Our CEO Dr. Chu left the system within his first year of employ.

      More ancillary staff needed. Patient to nurse ratio is 4:1 in the ER.
