Worked there for 1 year only, valued my licence too much to risk staying. Worked in the pediatric hospital and within a couple months of starting, was regularly pulled into the CVICU and ICU with only a couple of days of training. Seemed I was working there more often at times than on my own unit and was not prepared for that. New grad nurses were stressed with being pulled into those areas and not uncommon to see a nurse crying over it as they were I'll prepared. Within 4 months of me starting, I was scheduled to orientate new nurses when I was still a newbie there myself. Very short staffed much of the year,...but sadly in the summer I was getting cancelled for many shifts and had to use my vacation time to ensure I got a full paycheck. We had mandatory on calling the weekends, and you could be guaranteed to be called in to work...I worked 6 -12 hour shifts straight once because I had to work on my 2 days off due to mandatory on call so I had no break between shifts. Few policies were enforced and nurses were left to make quick decisions and make a bad situation work. The staff were super nice, but had to make their own rules due to lack of direction from management.

Noticed some difficulty moving to a different department, especially if your current manager likes you and doesn't want you to go.
