Pros

You get an extra 2.00 an hour on weekends.

Cons

When its not a weekend you make a blistering $8.35. You do a few extra things as an intern but really you are just another team member on the floor.

Pros

Great opportunity for kids in highschool or college. Sales team members are very kind. Most management team members are there to help you.

Cons

As a human resource coordinator there is little if any support from the management staff in the areas of motivation or change for the better. Menards motivates through fear, fear of a visit from General Office employees, a secret shop, and fines. If managers don't make payroll they have money taken from their bonus. If HR makes a mistake, even during their training period they get fined. The fines are taken from their IPS, end of year bonus. The management and HR have hourly rates of pay which are far below benchmarked positions,. For example, HR and manager trainees make 11.50/hr. Their bonuses make very little difference in their gross pay, considering they get fined for mistakes. Seldom do they tell you what you are doing right, but focus on what you do wrong. Management can do well if they are willing to put in the time, which can mean 50-60 hours/week. These hours are mandated by general office and if management doesn't work them they will be fined. Guests can be extremely rude to team members and management doesn't support or protect their employees from any type of abuse.
