Pros

The management at the Menards I worked at was awesome. They were very understanding about personal requests for time off due to situations in life that you could not control. IPS is great. All the people I worked with were very nice and I became close friends with some of them. Very friendly atmosphere. $2.50 on top of your regular pay for working on the weekends. Manager bonuses for when you make payroll.

Cons

No flexible schedules for department managers Docked bonuses because you didn't make your payroll ( how can you anticipate if people are going to flood in and buy stuff vs sending your employees home for the night) You have to work 1000 hours in order to receive IPS and they tax 50% of it. Horrible health insurance plans, 20% of your paycheck gone.

Pros

The pay is halfway decent. Could be better. I also enjoyed working with the people at my store. I liked my immediate team.

Cons

The general office spreads a toxic culture. John Menard is a bully who doesn't trust or respect anybody. He puts enormous pressure on people. He assumes that nobody working for him has anywhere else to go. Some don't. The pressure works on them. Others take it for a few years and then wise up and realize: "hey, I'm just here to make a few bucks. I'm not going to be here forever." Then you can start planning out your future after Menards and life gets so much better.
