Pros

Incentives can be good. You earn extra money on weekends and this would be a good job for a student.

Cons

Horribly boring job when store isn't busy. 't'he store manager was horrible to most of the cashiers. I wouldn't recommend working in the Front End of the register at the service desk or as a cashier. It is the lowest position, and people will treat you accordingly.

Pros

Menards was a great part time college job for the 5 years that I worked there. My managers were able to work around my school schedule and gave me the time off that I needed for school. Also my immediate managers were great to work with. I was able to talk them freely about anything and they did not pressure me to force sales on customers that were unwilling to spend more money.

Cons

As I said before this is a great COLLEGE JOB and I never considered working there full time or being a department managers for the following reasons. The company takes complete advantage of all of there department managers in every way possible. First, the company makes there managers work very long and stressful weekend hours every other weekend if there are only two managers in the department. Second, the company deducts money from each of the department managers yearly bonus amounts, but never provides a complete breakdown or reasons why money was taken away from there bonus. Third, the health benefits that they provide is pitiful and expensive! The company is really cheap when it comes to health benefits because they expect their full time and management employees to pay a large portion of there health benefits while the company contributes a tiny percentage for medical coverage. Fourth, the hours are horrible! You are working days, nights and weekends. This maybe fine for a college student but once you finish school and are looking to have a life outside of work it makes it hard.

Pros

Menards is a decent paying job depending on the location and position within the company. If you are an Assistant Manager or Department Manager in the metro land area, the pay and bonuses are pretty good. For full-timers or part-timers, you can have a flexible schedule depending on your manager.

Cons

Assistant Managers and Managers are on a set schedule. On a regular basis, you would have to work to around 10 - 11:00pm, then the next day come into work at around 6 - 6:30am. There isn't any room for a life outside of work. There will be many days you will be understaffed, where it would only be the Department Manager and a part-timer. The Store Manager I worked for would snap at team members in front of "guests". Your management reviews are based on supervisors, other managers, and the employees working in your department. So, it usually boils down to a popularity contest, instead on job performance.
