Pros

Co-workers will try to make the job more enjoyable. If you make 1000hrs a year you will get 2.5% of your gross income in February, 5% your second year, 7.5% your third year, 10% your fourth year, 12.5% your fifth year, and then it maxes out at 15%.

Cons

Managers do not cooperate, your manager, their manager, and their manager will each tell you to do opposite things. Management has a high turn over rate due to the stress of the job, the extreme 50+hr workweeks, working open to close shifts, and not making much more than regular team members. There will be managers who will encourage you to work while you are punched out so the department makes payroll, this is because whereas they need to have team members in their department to do the job, their personal income will be punished if the department doesn't make enough. The company is infamous with payroll deductions, these are purchases you can make at the store that will come out of your next check. Unfortunately, they also are a way for the store to legally steal money from you to cover business expenses such as; if store equipment gets broken, you have an accident that costs the store money, you lose your badge, you need a new blade for your carpenters knife, you need a new 'safety knife' (which you may only use the ones menards sells), or if they decide to 'fine' you for a bin tag being up after a sale.
