Pros

You are paid on a weekly basis.

Cons

I recently found out that Menards does not want their full-time employees to attend classes unless they are Menards classes. If you are full-time and take even one college class, they can bump your down to part-time status and you lose a couple of dollars an hour in pay plus the lost hours and benefits. This is the only company I know of that DISCOURAGES it employees to educate themselves and become better.

Pros

It's a job. Guests (customers) aren't bad or unruly like you find at many other retailers. Full timers average at least 40 hours a week. SPIF's are great add long as you're not at a new store. You get a SPIF for helping somebody fill out a credit card application, seeing extended warranties

Cons

Scheduling, favoritism, breaks and meal periods, (or lack thereof), promotions only happen if you're a favorite, pay scale is low especially in the beginning with an education and experience, fines for managers for several reasons (I.e. Inventory, payroll, accidentally breaking a tablet, or having an accident on a fork lift etc.). Hard to control inventory when something says it's here but doesn't actually show up for three or four days. Too many people adjusting inventory. Managers also should never have only 6 hours between shifts.
