Pros

Used to be a fabulous company when the founders were around. They believed in the vision, and maintained the hungry startup culture. People were more than happy to prop up and support others. The company was scrappy, and good people were recognized for doing a good job. Fast forward to 2016/2017. Super inexperienced managers were promoted for good individual contributions. They weren't promoted because they're good at developing others. Problem is, they don't have the "for the team" mentality, but are way more interested in self promoting (like in any situation, there are some exceptions). These managers are afraid of letting their directs shine, so their directs work like dogs and don't see any recognition for the effort. Unfortunately, this mentality seems to start at the top.

Cons

You won't see the excellent leadership, well thought out decision-making, recognition, or career advancement opportunities that you might see at traditional Cisco either. The snacks of a startup environment are still around, though slowly dwindling. The office is in SF, which used to be a perk for a tech company, but that is changing too. Don't waste your time here. Look for another startup with great leadership, or go to a big company that has been tested.

Pros

- Friendly environment. - Free food

Cons

- Daily work load cannot be done in 8 hours under any circumstance. Everyone has to work at least 2 hours over-time every single day to finish up their work. - At the time of onsite interview I was told the working hours are “flexible”, but everyone is forced to work on a specific shift, mostly 6 am to 3 pm. - All support engineers have to work 2 months in an APAC shift (11 am – 8pm), for two months. This is NEVER mentioned during the interview. - Compensation is low. If you want to negotiate, you will be told to work over

Pros

The only thing Meraki can offer is free food. That's it.

Cons

There is no career path at Meraki. Management keeps changing company's goals all the time and no one knows what is going to happen in near future. Management team cannot keep up with parent company (Cisco) policies and make poor decisions which frustrates employees across different departments. Compensation is lower than any other companies in the same field.
