Pros

paid well, honored sick leave and FMLA, reasonable benefits,

Cons

They don't actually pay bonuses, or at least not to new hires who fall through the cracks of team and project assignments - and they'll claim it's that person's fault with no way to change what's happening around them. Management supports discriminatory and bullying behavior regarding who gets billable work, who attends meetings and on-sites, etc. Mostly, men go and only younger or non-technical women. They had men present women's work as their own. If you protest too much, you're on the radar for life and anything you say can be misconstrued. You'll be told to not criticize or disparage coworkers, even though they all criticize you constantly.

Pros

Generally people in Mercer Wealth are accommodating and pleasant to work with, wealth colleagues have strong work ethic for the most part or at least willing to be helpful

Cons

Where do I begin. As of late, investment consultants are in essence being asked to grovel at clients' feet while somehow also meeting increased billable hour targets while simultaneously maximizing profitability on all clients. Leadership talking ad nauseum on revenue growth and client retention while providing absolutely no workplace perks, tracking badge swipes, comical annual 0 to 2% "merit" increases, no subsidized parking, and laptops and technology at the lowest end of the range. MMC health insurance options are garbage, plan to max out your HSA and just rely on that. Incompetent middle management bloat in the Wealth practice which delays decisionmaking and client service delivery and there is constant expectation of managing upwards engrained in the culture (i.e. having to do your own work and your manager's work as well). Extremely limited diversity above a certain point in the Mercer heirarchy.

Toxic, Condescending Culture

Pros

You will work with an intelligent group of well educated people.

Cons

Unfortunately, this organization has a deeply toxic work environment. The culture is condescending, and it is common for employees to be spoken to in a rude, bossy, and disrespectful manner. Workloads are consistently piled on with little to no regard for work–life balance or employee well-being. There is a serious lack of effective leadership. Management does not provide adequate support, nor do they address ongoing issues within teams. Bullying behavior by colleagues is tolerated and normalized rather than corrected, and there are no meaningful consequences for unprofessional conduct. Despite hard work and increased responsibilities, employees can go years without receiving even a standard merit increase or meaningful recognition. The workplace appears to reward narcissistic behavior, while employees who are respectful and collaborative are left unsupported. Overall, the environment is demoralizing and unsustainable, and I would not recommend this employer to anyone seeking a healthy, respectful, or well-managed workplace.
