Pros

A great work-life balance and unlimited company resources. MetLife Real Estate is a big player in commercial real estate so the exposure was nice. Management is nice and the pay is decent.

Cons

It is a nice place to end your career but if you are hungry and smart the corporate politics that will hamstring you to death. The money is also no where near what other working in similar position in NYC are earning. MetLife is a slow nurturing environment that will hinder your ambitions if you are there for too long.

Pros

Flexible work arrangements, good benefits and vacation time.

Cons

Good benefits are becoming more and more expensive with less coverage. Jobs are being outsourced to India as fast as the company can give them away and fire employees. Management withholds information until it is convenient for their purposes. And my personal favorite, they not only give your job away from some employees that have been there for more than 20 years, but they also want to you train your offshore replacement.

Pros

Good hours. The pay is decent. I enjoy the people I work with in my immediate group. My manager is very flexible and doesn't require more hours than are necessary to get the job done. Business casual dress is the norm. I don't feel micro-managed by my supervisors.

Cons

Difficult to get promotions. Low salary raises. Its hard to get the inside track. The bonuses don't compare to investment banks. No holiday party. The company is pretty conservative.
