Pros

Worked with good team, Good people.

Cons

HR Leadership was horrible, complete cover your backside people. Former HR Leader encouraged outsourcing, kept it a big secret and then let the Recruiting Team go in Dec.of 2012. They rewarded the weakest of the group and stifled the better performers. Amazing some of these people kept their jobs.

Pros

Global, multi-line large insurance company with broad opportunities.

Cons

Its all about the ROE. Lip service about career development, but real action limited to select few.

Pros

The Cary office is in the middle of a really great area to have a family; Cary has excellent schools, good parks and community centers, etc. The workplace culture is generally good. The powers that be are genuinely trying to make MetLife GTO into a real tech company. In my experience it is easy to run into and chat with executives, and my opinion of them is overwhelmingly favorable.

Cons

It is sometimes difficult to be a software engineer at what is fundamentally not a technology company. Depending on the team you're on you can (as in my case) have a great experience working with talented people on a team that tries to be as forward-thinking as possible, but you will always be limited by existing institutions.
