Pros

The people working for Metlife are talented and each have a unique set of skills and backgrounds making for a great team.

Cons

I was hired to work at one location and was constantly requesting my offer letter and start date info from the HR Department. The Friday evening before they closed and my job started I was given instructions to go to a training 2 and a half hours from home and this training would last "a few days". Upon going to the training I found out not only is the expectation for new employees to travel extensively without putting them up locally or at least reimbursing for milage and incidental out of pocket expenses but the training would be a month long. HR was extremely deceptive in waiting until the last minute to share these crutial details. I'm not the only one in this predicament. The company waited until 2nd week of employment to share with employees the horrifying health insurance "benefits" they offer. My best word of advice for anyone looking for employment with Metlife is to get all the information in advance before accepting the position and leaving your current employment. If they are withholding pertinent information related to your upcoming start date be prepared for less than ideal start to your career. Also for a Fortune 500 company doing so great financially you'd think they'd share the wealth by providing better benefits and training for new hires. So far my training consists of watching an unprepared, middle aged woman waste our time trying to understand her training material. This could have been streamlined to an online course so several people weren't put out of their way. Shame on you Metlife!

Pros

Salary and benefits are above average.

Cons

Job stability is iffy because senior management is looking to collapse locations, cut staff and switch to vendors and contractors. It is thought on 'The Street' that MetLife senior management is subpar. Hence the stagnant stock price.
