Pros

Small division within a large company. If are in an area where Met's premiums are competitive you can make decent money.

Cons

In many areas Met's auto and home rates are not competitive. Customer base is too small to spread out Loss ratios over large numbers. Small division almost treated like a stepchild from parent. Reps are increasingly told to sell other products to keep up profit margins. I would not consider this position a long term career opportunity. Business model is weak and requires agent to pay for a large share of marketing efforts.

Pros

Alternative Work Arrangement is provided. Work hour is flexible as long as you meet 40+ hours per week. Pay and benefit is good.

Cons

Recently, MetLIfe has been offshoring the IT work to out of the states. As a result, you don't have enough full time co-workers who can fully function for assignments. The offshore has limited knowledge in the project and difficult to communicate with for both my team and the customers. Therefore, you end up helping the offshore, if the offshore doesn't function well. You spend a lot of administrative and unnecessary work versus the actual IT work.

Pros

Fair, transparent company with opportunities for advancement after a few years in your current position. Good opportunity for advanced learning and ability to obtain certificates or degrees with reimbursement options for good grades.

Cons

Long hours, many (if not most) nights, weekends and Holidays (depending on job title, mostly sales-based positions) and also dependent on direct management preference.
