Losing direction

Pros

Great benefits, compensation and nice colleagues

Cons

Employees are being pushed to use AI crazily, without evaluating the necessity. Dashboard over dashboard are everywhere and overlapping. Layoff and then open headcount to rehire after some time, frequent reorg and hard to comprehend leadership direction. Getting more inhumane to torture employee mentally with frequent layoff and create fear of losing job.

No vision, but excellent pay

Pros

All the standard perks of a FAANG company - excellent pay, great cafetarias, lots of social activities. Generally a flat organizational structure, bottoms-up innovation emphasis

Cons

All of it feels performative - including the heavy use of Facebook as an internal message board where everyone posts their updates - ranging from life updates to project updates, feels like a hybrid of Facebook and LinkedIn posts. Performance reviews are a dog fight between departments, who get to "vote" on each manager's ratings for their employees. Roadmaps change constantly because the company keeps changing direction every year.
