Move fast and do fun things

Pros

I came to Facebook from a small startup (acquired by FB), and was very skeptical about joining a big company. However, I've been pleasantly surprised. Facebook really does move fast and provides individuals with a lot of autonomy to make decisions. The culture of the company encourages people to take risks, and I've been humbled by how talented some of my coworkers are.

Cons

Things are growing pretty quickly at Facebook, and sometimes it might feel like there are too many projects going on simultaneously. If you're not someone who thrives in a somewhat uncertain and fast-paced environment, it might not be as much fun being at Facebook.

Pros

It's hard to find another company right now that has such a large impact on the world. Everyone's work impacts the lives of millions of people. The opportunity is unreal.

Cons

A culture of moving fast can also burn out your brightest stars. It's a worthwhile tradeoff for preforming at a high level, but it can be costly to moral and the culture in general.

Excellent place to spend an internship

Pros

Facebook has smart people, hard problems and all the resources you could need to complete your job. In addition to a great working environment they also offer a number of awesome perks such as free food, laundry and a shuttle service.

Cons

Facebook is very much a meritocracy so you are judged primarily on the results you deliver, and not the effort you put in. This was not a problem for me, but it does mean that long hours can be required to get the work done.
