A great company, with great people

Pros

Far ahead of many other companies in remote work culture. A LOT of attention to employees' wellbeing and to people's personal needs. Life-work balance is very important at MetaLab. People are great, no big egos, no brilliant jerks, but a VERY HIGH level of talent all around. A lot to learn from colleagues and projects, which are usually super interesting and for top clients (or soon to be top). Good salary, good benefits (unlimited vacation, it's true), flexibility, chances for growth.

Cons

None so far, in my opinion (and I didn't hear any major complaints from others. People are pretty happy here)

Pros

• Metalab invests in growing people and is excellent at coaching • Metalab is structured to make roles clear and provide firm boundaries that protect your work/life balance • You'll work for top startups and established companies around the world • Metalab listen to everyone in the company about who they want to work with and they go get them (and it works) • Metalab is very dedicated to anti-racism and I think will continue to increase diversity of staff into the future • The best leadership I have encountered in the agency world. Clear, thoughtful and smart. • Overwhelmingly female leadership which makes for an inspiring place to work • Well resourced projects. Metalab know their team's strengths, weaknesses and goals and work hard to get the right people on the right work • If you need time off (who doesn't especially in agency work) you will get as much as you need/want • Colleagues are great people and look out for one another • Metalab is designed to be remote-first. Even if you work in Europe you will find everything is structured around normal and realistic office hours that you are in control of • In normal times you get to travel to lots of fun places • You meet up with everyone in person once a year to keep those relationships going strong

Cons

• Nothing major • Metalab can be rather deliverable focussed. This has the net effect of shortening timelines and turning some projects into a race to deliver more stuff. I would like to see Metalab become more value driven. Sometimes spending more time to design something more thoughtfully (quality over quantity) is a better approach. • Metalab can be a little tight when it comes to employee business expenses and travel — especially air travel. This could be loosened a little given how much they charge clients for work.
