Pros
There are pros here: - The people you work with are fantastic with very few exceptions. - Some projects can be fun and interesting work. - Hours and working conditions are very flexible, easily able to change schedules or work from home. - Developers tend to find themselves in a good position to learn new things. - New hires are compensated well. - Developers that are outsourced are capable and competent
Cons
There are cons as well: - Developers and middle management tend to be stretched too thin - Turn over has been extreme in the past year - year and a half, those who have stayed to make Metova better have not yet been compensated. - Performance reviews are essentially non-existent meaning so are raises / cost of living adjustments. (management is trying a new process, so raises and reviews wont happen for another year) - Developer metrics are not clearly defined. - Developers are often on projects alone and expected to fill a majority of the project management role, including directly interacting with clients which is abnormal when compared against industry standards.
