Genuine compassion from hardworking, excellent co-workers, managers and up - there is an altruistic streak that is rarely seen these days; diverse and stable environment; advancement is certainly possible and encouraged.

Cons

Not for everyone; high level strategies can sometimes not make it all the way to the worker level; New York City bureaucracy can be challenging to deal with at times

Great Career Development/Succession Planning

Besides the access to great benefits, and job security. One of many pros for working at MetroPlus Health Plan is the career development and succession planning. This organization is great for an individual, very much like myself, who is always up for a new challenge. Here at MetroPlus there is an intellectual challenge that many people seek when looking for a job/career. There's also flexibility in moving from technical roles to project management roles. At the same time, if you'd like to become an expert in something , this is a great place to start! The leadership genuinely cares about your growth, and wants to shine as one. The work environment is extremely diverse, and makes you feel like you are apart of a blended family.

Cons

Compensation isn't based on market value. You may like doing a job everyday, but may not be compensated for it.

I've been at Metroplus for 3 years, and it's been a pleasure the entire time. I'm a testament to the opportunities for career growth and training that are available. It's one of the most diverse work environments I've ever been a part of. Just like with any other employer, there are certain benchmarks and goals that you have to reach; but they're all attainable. I have supportive management to help guide me, and my staff does an amazing job every day.

Cons

Payroll is archaic and outdated. It would be a lot more simple to do electronically instead of on paper.
