Pros

great benefits, paid vacation and sick leave, medical and dental insurance.

Cons

where I worked the warehouse was very behind in technological improvements i.e. no inventory or warehouse management systems. not even bar code scanner or a inventory locator system. Currently there are using hand written inventory cards for a inventory valued at over $2 million.

Pros

Putting something impressive on your resume, meeting interesting people, opportunity to apply for open positions inside department.

Cons

upper management does not care about you. during the 2008 economy crash they placed unrealistic job performance expectations on staff . working in a dusty, dirty environment and dealing with odd homeless populations. Middle managers lack people skills, are rude, and micro managers. so much bureaucracy that nothing productive ever gets done or takes a very long time to get done.

Pros

benefits!! the pay is excellent, scheduling is amazing, supervisor works around my schedule (I go to school). an hour and a half lunch!! where else do you see that! it's suppose an hour lunch and then 15 min morning and 15 min afternoon but it's just combined.

Cons

There are no incentives for innovation, good ideas on how to be more productive are not appreciated. As long as you work to the minimum effort possible it's ok with management. If you're an excellent employee it really doesn't matter to management. The mayor takes a huge cut from pay, and if budget calls for it, layout can happen at anytime, but that happens at any company. The only problem here is that management only fires new people instead of the ones that are not performing well. Career advancement only if you are buddies with upper management.
