Insurance is fully covered by the county. Paid holidays, vacation time and sick time. Office hours always. No weekends. The system is too set, there is not room for negotiation. You just do whatever HR and the commisioners have approved. 5% raise every-year. (all this apply to all positions, unless you are exempt)

Cons

Getting to downtown can be challenging. And... sometimes you feel your life is wasting away. There is no purpose. I can't explain it. Maybe because people work there to retirement and once they live they have just enough to life an ok life. Do not expect to become rich...

There is a lot of great benefits associated with working for the County. This is an employer you can work for for 30+ years' shall you choose to and a lot of people do.

Cons

Since most people are long term employees, oppurtunities for promotions can be difficult. In addition, hard work is not taken into account for potential promotions within the County.
