Pros

The benefits are above-average for a municipality and, in general, the work environment is good and colleagues are supportive.

Cons

Everything here is so politicized that if you make the mistake of rubbing an elected official the wrong way you're effed. And don't expect the current administration to back you, even if you're in the right.
