Pros

My colleagues are friendly. Miami is hugely successful in recruiting rich Chinese kids, which is beneficial for university finances.

Cons

Miami is very image-focused, but only as far as advertising brochures are concerned. There is little concern over academic quality (maybe my idea of "research-active" is just different from theirs) of faculty; they seem only to care about the students' teaching evaluations. Classes seem "dumbed-down"; grade inflation is rampant. It is clear to me that my department hired me based on research credentials, while the University was just looking for a popular teacher.
