      Pros

      MSU can be a great place to work and the employee benefits are pretty good—the 2 to 1 retirement match and a no-cost health care plan option are outliers, even among Big10 schools. Our labor unions work hard to maintain these benefits for support staff.

      Cons

      I’ve worked in different departments at MSU and they vary widely in employee support. Having a good, supportive supervisor is key. They are out there but not in every department and all are working managers so the approach to supporting their direct reports can vary widely.
