      Pay is almost bare minimum for living in east Lansing.

      Pros

      It's a challenging atmosphere, intellectually. I am given health insurance. I am very independent when it comes to research, and that is encouraged

      Cons

      The pay is little. It compares to minimum wage at full time. It is an unwritten rule that researchers work at least 40 hours a week but we only get paid for 20 hours

      union seniority system makes it take 6 years to get higher paying/more skilled job too many managers
