Okay Company for a Short Stay

No matching 401K Not opening stores, which inherently limits potential growth within the company Lackluster management--including moving some to hourly and never fully explaining the thought process behind it Disorganized merchandising Disconnected HR

It's alright

Pros

I liked a number of the people I worked with, but management was not as friendly as other coworkers.

Cons

They don't pay enough, shifts are sometimes given out only a few days before you're scheduled. You have to start at the bottom and work up, you cannot go straight into sales.

Commission-Based Employment DOES NOT WORK

Cons

Management ignores complaints/sexism - Micro Center severely lacks a female workforce, and it's a no-brainer why. Management launches "investigations" into sexual harassment and nothing comes of it. Totally sexist workplace that deters female employees. Management refuses to work with employees regarding scheduling - countless times employees would ask for days off and not receive them. Management blamed this on "auto scheduler" and refused to fix it. Said employees were then verbally reprimanded for swapping shifts with co-workers. Opening shifts are free-labor for Micro Center - If you're an opening shift you have to arrive at the store at 7AM, STOCK THE STORE FOR $4/HOUR until open at 10AM and you have to make up the difference from $4/hour to minimum wage through your commissions from that day. Management refused the possibility of even talking about why this was. This is also the case for "bounceback" where you're required to clean the entire store and not make commission sales, yet still get paid $4/hour. If you're anything other than in the systems or Apple department, you're treated poorly - GSAs work the hardest and get paid the least. Not allowed drinks on the floor yet reprimanded when back in the break room.
