Pros

At the time I worked there Apple was going through their boom with the iPad (1 & 2), and some good computer updates, so it was a good time in terms of commissions and products to sell. As well, I learned a lot more about hardware through some pretty interesting problems presented by customers. Co-workers throughout the store were all pretty nice. Being able to buy electronics at cost (or close to it) as an employee. A bonus at the time was a trip out to Cupertino for Apple Training. Not sure if this is still going on.

Cons

It is a retail environment if you are at a store, so there are all of the hassles that go with that (irate customers, working a closing shift then coming back to open...) Before the store opens, and cleaning up after closing, you are basically working for below minimum wage since there are no customers to add to your commission for the day. When I was there those times were trending up little by little to get the things done that weren't possible during regular business hours. Hopefully they stabilized or went back down. I don't really like sales, so it didn't really fit my personality over time.

Pros

-Flexible with hours as a part time worker/student -More freedoms given to how to set up in-store displays and some placement of products compared to other larger company retail stores allowed you to be creative -Employee discount of products let you purchase items only a shade above warehouse pricing -Commission pay allows you to make what you sell -Upward mobility within store very obtainable

Cons

-Hours dedicated to opening, closing or training paid at commission rate led to low motivations on such essential tasks and created a wide enthusiasm gap between on and off sales floor hours -The focus on sales day after day can become tiresome/ creates a work environment with questionable ethics all for the sale -Slow business days and seasons came around quite often and highly fluctuated pay -Middle management was hit or miss as primary supervisors. Some micro-managed to a high degree while others were completely disinterested in everyday affairs

Pros

The staff I worked with were wonderful people and kept me motivated. This is a great place to start learning about tech. I troubleshooted customers on a daily basis. The experience and skills that I have gained from my employment here is invaluable. It is a good stepping stone position if you want to get into IT.

Cons

In my experience, the wage gap was wide in the department for people performing the same duties. With the previous management, there was an intense tendency to micromanage. It has since improved with the change in management but I left shortly after.
