Pros

A high pace work environment that is mentally challenging for any computer professional. You also get to play with all the cool tech toys and get up to speed with the latest technologies.

Cons

If you get a sales job it is commission based. Ultimately it is also a retail establishment so the pay is not that great unless you are in upper management.

Pros

Stability. Micro Center is privately held and uses its own money to grow. In a market with low margins Micro Center deals in volume sales and great customer service to keep the company on top. The company has been expanding and offering opportunities to young employees

Cons

Unfortunately the low margin nature of this industry leaves little for the employees when it comes to perks and salaries. Advancement is hard and salaries are low. Advancing to another position may be difficult because of differences in pay grades. Not enough opportunities for veteran employees.

Pros

Employee discount is good on some items depending on the margins. Some coworkers are easy to get along with and very helpful.

Cons

The base pay $4 an hour, is not enough for what they make Sales Associates do. Sales Associates are expected to stock shelves from warehouse, clean the sales floor, sell products and deal with difficult customers whilst deterring theft. What home office wants us to do is "wait tables and cook food." Instead of hiring the right people into the right positions they just hire more sales associates to fill other roles such as, warehouse and security.
