Great store, fun and friendly environment to work in. Employee purchase makes for a geek in a candy store.
Pros
Great environment and friendly employees. While the hourly positions don't pay much above minimum wage, if you frequent electronic stores the employee purchase savings will more than make up for it. Even as an hourly associate, you have potential to raise your income through commission on service plans and warranties. Scheduling is very flexible. They prefer to hire internally, so there are always opportunities to move to another position within the retail store. There is also an employee referral program that translates into a nice pay bonus if your referral lasts 90 days. There were frequent events to boost employee moral, including picnics, raffles, and game nights where gaming consoles were hooked up to some of the best TVs on display. The company in general is definitely doing something right. Though they are currently a small chain, new stores are being opened every year while competitors shut down in spades. There is an excellent selection of products, and the prices are some of the best in the industry. Many computer components are actively priced to beat online retailers, and I can't count the number of occasions that a customer told me they were there after being dissatisfied by Fry's or Best Buy, or that Micro Center was even RECOMMENDED by one of their employees.
Cons
Again, hourly pay isn't the best but there are opportunities to improve it. My biggest con is how much of my income I spent buying new toys at the employee discount. As a tech-geek, I was definitely a kid in a candy store.
