Pros

Saying that you work for a company who exploits professionally.

Cons

Nothing much other than employee exploitation, fake promises, saying that Boise is cheaper and saying that we can work for 50k though you are worth 5times that. HR policies are worse than any service based or startup company. They always target laid off candidates so as to pay them less salary.

Good Pay Good Benefits, No Work - Life Balance or Job Security

Pros

The company has a good 401k plan, decent medical benefits, educational benefits and competitive pay. If you happen to work in the right department and in the right job. The company promotes healthy living and is always trying to do a better job with their customers. The company is global so if you like to travel or re-locate there are possibilities. If you are a semiconductor or material scientist with Masters or a Doctorate degree the jobs can be exciting and rewording and very well paying. The newer management under Mark Adams seems to be doing a better job of treating people humanely and doing away with the boys club that existed strongly under Steve Appleton. The company is a good stepping stone for a better company such as working for Virgin or Google.

Cons

Little or no company loyalty to employees, if you are the average worker Manager or lower then you are just a number, it doesn't matter how long one has worked there there is no "job for life" culture. Often the company will make cuts with little worry about employees, and sometimes they even have cuts when the company is profitable. Often the company makes changes with little or no evaluation of the impacts of those changes internally so you end up doing your job and someone else. The company is global so if you are salaried watch out, you may be working from 8-5pm or 8-11pm with no added compensation. If your not at the right level, Director or above or working as a scientist in R&D they will work you to death. Some managers have no tact or bearing and do not support their own employees and will try to make themselves look good at any cost. Some people have ridiculous work loads, they do it because they cannot find anything better. You have to constantly watch your back for people trying to promote themselves by making you look bad. This is not a US company by far they have moved most of Manufacturing overseas and continue to do so.

Pros

I enjoy working with the customers and it is close to home. I also enjoy the 12.5 hours of vacation time I get a month

Cons

This position is really difficult having a work-life balance. The culture tends to be a 'good ole boy's club'. It seems the only way to get promoted is to find a friend who is in upper management. No matter how hard you work, it's not good enough and it's the only place I know that uses a personality contest to get you promoted. Not a very professional atmosphere and a manager who has admitted he knows nothing about what we do.
