Pros

Good pay if you work hard for it. Not a job for the faint if heart, but neither is sales in general. If you don’t authentically love selling then find another job. All levels of management are supportive and care about your success. Colleagues are great. Benefits and vehicle reimbursement / mileage are good.

Cons

MST brands itself as by surgeons, for surgeons. This motto was true for the entire history of the company up until 7-8 years ago. The company has continued to make poor decisions in product development. There were numerous occasions of surgeons bringing ideas to our R&D department and either being ignored or not followed up with. There was a major issue with one of the new iterations of a product that causes real patient safety concerns. I brought the issue up and was told “that’s not an issue we have heard from anyone else”. Fast forward one month, the issue is widespread and a solution is being worked on and will be ready in 6 months. 2 years later, the issue is resolved. I recall there being another issue with one of our new products and I brought it up casually to R&D five months after product launch asking if we had plans to fix it and R&D’s didn’t remember what the issue was.. it had been brought up to the department numerous times by myself and others. The internal challenges at MST are too often brushed off as “every company has challenges”. This consistent response to the internal challenges was concerning since we all knew how bad the internal challenges were, it was no secret that it was amongst the worse we’ve seen in an employer. When I first started, I remember being very surprised that our 3 of our top 5 most commonly ordered legacy products were always on backorder. We were always told the company was working on it, but that was the same response for multiple years up until the day I left the company. Often sterile products are shipped non-sterile due to poor packaging / inspection, orders are shipped to the wrong customer on the other side of the country, products are shipped with expiration dates less than a week out, etc.

Pros

They have really good people working in production line. Hard-working and really friendly.

Cons

Really really really bad management. Management changes every 10-11 months. Anyone from supervisors to managers will get replace if there’s a new CFO, VP. Management has absolutely no ideal about the products they make, or how to treat the people who work 6 days a week for almost 2 years. Pay rate is pretty low. People in production team had to strike to get a raise, but whoever didn’t strike still get low pay. Company doesn’t appreciate employees.
