Pros

Open environment, great package, wonderful people, amazing location, excellent facilities, great summer vibe and excellent opportunities to become exposed to various cultures

Cons

Cold winters, recent cost reductions, not much time for development or emphasis on growth. Long term staff rewarded far better than new staff.

Pros

Middlebury is a caring community with a collegial work environment. The administration does a good job treating employees with respect. Most of the students are very bright, respectful, and motivated. The college's financial health is better than that of most small liberal arts colleges.

Cons

It's unclear how faculty pay raises are determined. Rather than allowing faculty to apply for open positions in the administration, the current administration quietly selects new administrators. The college is located in a remote area with long, cold winters.

Pros

The students, who come from all over the world with enriching life experiences. All of the American students have lived, traveled, studied or worked overseas, and must have a strong facility in at least one other language.

Cons

Cost of living on the Central Coast is _expensive_! The cost of housing is still prohibitive, even rents are still too high in this recessionary market, perhaps because the Defense Language Institute and Naval Postgraduate School subsidize housing for their students, and they keep expanding their enrollment. This puts upward pressure on rents throughout the area.
