Pros

Lots of academic freedom. Interesting projects. Great student body, especially at their Monterey campus. Good people, committed to education and equity.

Cons

The college systems' finances are shaky and salaries have, until very recently, lagged. This was especially the case in California. However, the administration has made great strides in compensation and in shoring up finances. Middlebury is suffering from a nationwide trend in declining enrollment and support for small colleges. Not the fault of the college's administration at all.
