Pros

Good folks for the most part. Good mix of people, mostly guys but women too. At the store I work it's a pretty chill atmosphere and everybody usually works around schedules to meet everyone's needs, so long as you're not the guy that's always late at the last minute or you simply don't do your job. Even then the current managers are flexible. The work itself is on your feet most of the day. Waves off customers come in and you have to work with a lot of people who don't understand how bicycles work. Even on a basic level. It's surprising, when it shouldn't be really. Anyway you learn the tools. Everyone is supportive. Oh and everyone gets a cut of commission in the tech department. And then tech gets a small cut from the sales. So there's a base bay plus average commissions.

Cons

Personally it's too much of a drinking crowd for me, but if you like your beer and parties like most people do, then that's not a con I guess. Otherwise management from corporate headquarters can screw with shop routines. And the bikes get crowded in the back. I'm not an inspector or official, but the racks for the bikes aren't anchored.

Pros

Training opportunities and discounts. The opportunity to work with very nice bikes of all kinds. Good tools and workspace. If you race they support that. They do try to make it feel like a traditional bike shop.

Cons

It is very unfortunate that I have to rate Mike's so poorly. As a mechanic with 10+ years of experience, I was worked twice as hard as any other shop I've worked at. No room for growth, benefits were cut, and it was impossible to use your pto without getting shunned/fired. Salary- commission based and the sales department gives away mechanics' labor dollars to ensure their sales, even though charging for labor is how you get paid. Pay never represents the effort you give. All about the bottom line. Work environment- Gossip is rampant. They seem to encourage customer entitlement; mechanics are treated like servants. I worked with very smart mechanics but quickly found them leaving to go to other shops that were better paying/more mellow for the same pay. Management- No respect for human life. I was aware of an employee being fired while in the hospital for two days. Management then went to the ER to retrieve his store keys! They didn't seem to care at all that they were losing a great mechanic who had been there for longer than anyone I ever worked with besides the store manager. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is that after working there I can pretty much deal with any bs I may encounter and there was good opportunities for training.

Pros

Get paid to ride your bike, dogs are welcome, people at HQ are fun to work with.

Cons

No real room for growth, we expanded to 12 stores, but shrunk our department sizes.
