Pros

Decent comp structure, talented individuals across all lines of business. Free lunch but only on Fridays.

Cons

Make sure you know what you're getting into by going here. Every negative thing you hear about this place is true. Management makes promises to lure you in and delivers whatever they see fit once you've joined. Limited bandwith. Back office infrastructure is abysmal. There's some sharp people here. However, dialogue among people is discouraged for fear of ruining the fund's diversification so little sharing of information or ideas occurs. Turnover is ridiculously high here and you get the sense every employee is one wrong move away from being shown the exit. Frankly, most people seem pretty unhappy here. Trading floors are like libraries, I'd imagine morgues are more lively.

Pros

Recognizable name on the resume. Met some pretty great and incredibly smart and interesting people. You probably could negotiate a decent salary. But you will most likely have to pay for it with your soul.

Cons

The place is a toxic crazy mess. I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. Legacy people feel like they have a right to openly harass, yell, threaten their employees. Backstabbing and complaining behind each others backs is also rather popular, extremely intense, stressful and miserable culture, soiled and just a lot of miserable people run by fear. Something crazy happens every day! Avoid at all costs or don’t tell me you haven’t been warned. The interview process is unprofessional and draining. The notice period is insane, it is indeed set up making it difficult for an employee to leave. Turnover is no joke and comes at no surprise. I might have a ptsd after working here.

Pros

Will learn a lot of industry skills and 1 WFH day a week.

Cons

Binding notice periods and non-competes (trying to make you never leave). If you’re not a trader, your own Core side managers even treat you like garbage. For the financial services industry, they pay terribly too. Citadel and other competitors are a revolving door, but it’s much worse here- go work for them or Point72 instead, at least the majority of management cares, rewards, and retains their employees more successfully. STAY AWAY FROM THE HR DEPARTMENT! They are two faced, play favorites, and don’t work hard at all.
