Brilliant leaders + Kind Colleagues with Mountain Views
Pros
Sr. Leadership truly committed to achieving highest quality & patient experience. Fast paced environment where leaders are not sitting on their hands in response to healthcare threats/changes. High proportion of kind, decent human beings in all levels of the organization -- nurses, practice managers, regional directors on up. Incredibly high outcome environment with a commitment to poor & underserved. You can feel very good that you're making a difference. The beauty of the area (the views from pretty much every location are astonishing). Because all Mission locations are not super urban, there's hardly ever a commute. In a hard financial year, Mission will choose to cut vendor contracts & reduce support dept staff in order to still give raises to high performing doctors. The Sr. Leadership is high qualified -- coming from Kaiser, Geisinger, & Intermountain Healthcare. Many teams/locations have extremely high staff satisfaction & great cultures. Lots of opportunities for nurses & doctors to move around the organization. One of the few non-academic medical centers where you can do research & create new protocols.
Cons
The E.M.R. has a ton of clicks involved, and is clunky. It is a large organization, and it can be tricky to figure out "who" is responsible for "what" in various support departments. Training on the soft stuff (communication, relationships, the standout process) is great. Training on the hard stuff (how to use IT system to do great patient care) could be better, especially for MAs, practice managers, and new docs.
