As a Great Place to Work and Practice recipient (awarded by our own employees!), our team members' experience is a top priority. Top quality healthcare and positive patient experience is also paramount: http://www.mission-health.org/quality-of-care.php Thanks for your feedback! Good place to work, at a crossroad

Pros

The people are what make Mission special. Asheville's beauty and culture draws people from all over. Because the providers are so dedicated, patients are taken care of very well. The health system has some great programs/services for patients both as inpatients and in the ambulatory setting. The institution is supportive of furthering education. The location allows for days off spent in the gorgeous surrounding areas or the funky downtown. There are a fair number of career opportunities within the system.

Cons

Top heavy organization . Culture depends on the unit in which you work. Some teams are welcoming and helpful, others are harder to get along with. Mission has no healthy competition in the area, which is unfortunate, because it would encourage Mission to tighten up in the areas it is lacking. The general consensus by staff is that HR can be dismissive and does things at their own pace. Over the last 9 years, there has been a steady decline in morale and leadership support. Many of our best people, including some of the most impressive lower and middle management I've seen, have left in droves. Many of those who didn't leave took positions outside management due to the culture at the top. The institution still has some great leaders and even better staff, but if something doesn't genuinely change, I'm not sure how much longer that will be the case.

Pros

Great healthcare, I wouldn't hesitate a moment to send my family here.

Cons

Benefits are worse every year, feels like administration tries to hard to make people feel great about the benefits and hospital itself as they take more and more away from the bedside. This, I'm sure, is not a rarity in today's healthcare world but it has made me no longer want to be a nurse.
