Great environment and people; got impacted in layoffs

Pros

They had great people who cared about the mission of building great financial products to improve the financial health of the low income population in the US. Many customers were loyal and loved that Mission Lane gave them a chance and helped them increase their credit score. Overall, great people and mission.

Cons

Got impacted by the layoffs last year. There are definitely some politics around what gets worked on but having a good manager that helps you work around it really helps. They said they were doing well cash wise and were profitable, which is why they hadn't needed to raise in a while, but they still conducted layoffs. So either they were lying or they did the layoffs just to please investors.

Horrible legacy monolith, incompetent tech leadership

The company really takes care of its customers and employees. Work life balance was good.

Cons

The legacy tech monolith is horrible and everyone complains about it daily. The devops teams are top notch and very advanced, they really have fun. But it's unfortunate money was spent on that while neglecting the core of the business residing in a 10 year old monolithic app using an antiquated old version of Play framework and custom in house frameworks (instead of Spring). The tech leadership was clueless.
