Pros

Great company to grow your career in. Leadership provides strong recognition and empowers the team to take the next step. Training and mentoring are excellent. They actively encourage future leaders with a positive leadership style, praising in public, mentoring in private and toxic management behaviors like gatekeeping or taking credit are not tolerated. I’ve been able to have very open conversations with my manager about my career goals, and I’ve always felt supported in achieving them. The company has a solid budget for development and training, and every course or workshop I’ve requested has been approved and paid for to support my personal growth. Some have benefitted the whole team and others for my own personal development in areas I wanted improve. There’s easy exposure to stakeholders, transparency in decision-making, and genuine consideration of new ideas. There’s no micromanagement, you manage yourself and your time. The fully remote allows for great work-life balance, with flexibility around when you start and finish as long as the work gets done. The team is high-energy and full of high achievers.

Cons

The workload can be heavy, and it’s not for everyone. Expectations are high, you’re encouraged to be a top performer. Some people thrive in that environment, while others may struggle. It’s fast-paced, and you need to be agile to keep up. It’s not always easy and can definitely be stressful at times. That said, the team is very supportive and have a “we’re all in it together” attitude which makes is much easier.

Pros

Remote work, good benefits, and fun coworkers. Might be a good place to start out and learn things or used as a stepping stone. Job security if you manage your workload well.

Cons

Inner circle culture and low pay. They pay below market average. Very much an inner circle culture. If you don’t fall in line or get chummy with leadership, you are outside the circle and suffer from lack of promotions, very low raises, and unable to benefit from work training (conferences, online courses, etc) even if you are a high performer with consistently good results. This is pretty obvious to plenty of current and former employees. Promotions come from inner circle membership or by default through acquisitions, rarely from merit. Onboarding and training is seriously lacking. So many acquisitions every year, with little effort in integrating systems and people. Most of the leadership lacks authenticity. The corporate cliches and slang are overused for sure. It’s hard to see the real, personal side of most leaders and they don’t really seem to make an effort to say hi or get to know anyone. Especially if you aren’t in the inner circle.
