      A truly exceptional place to work and grow

      Pros

      A lot of biotechs claim to be dynamic, fast-paced, and exciting places to work, but Moderna really takes that to another level. The combination of funding, growth, and progress are truly exceptional, all built on a potentially revolutionary scientific platform. Those that relish the challenge and can deliver in that environment are recognized and can advance rapidly. It's also an amazing story to be part of and to observe from the inside.

      Cons

      The hyper-growth of Moderna created a lot of challenges, especially in the early days of 2013 and 2014. The evolution of the company culture struggled to keep up with that growth, and there was more turnover than was healthy. The culture is in a much better place now, but it can still be a challenging and demanding place to work, and that's not for everyone. Moving so fast on so many programs is exceptionally challenging, and sometimes decision making suffers.

      Excellent company home to great people

      Pros

      Moderna is a fast evolving and exciting company. I was fortunate to spend 2+ great years there before deciding to leave as part of a change in careers. I enjoyed great support while there, which continued despite my decision to leave. The collaborative environment at Moderna makes it a special place to not only do great science in your subject expertise area but to learn from truly cross-functional teams. Despite a growing number of development targets, the senior management continues to invest heavily in research but more importantly in people too. The senior management team is constantly adding benefits for the employees and uses a "Voice of the Employees" forum to prioritize these initiatives. Free transport pass or parking, free phone, free lunch are just some of the nice perks. It is not a company for people who want to do a 9-5 job; there is a constant drive to improve the technology through collaborative science. You will have accelerated learning and growth. Employees at all levels get the opportunity to own their work and to interact with some of the best scientists in biotech, including some great external advisers. Lots of happy hours, company outings and fun parties!

      Negative reviews from early days are not reflective of the current company I was there through much change at the company and this is a company that experienced hyper growth, with growing pains but these are largely solved now.

      All good until it’s all bad.

      Pros

      During my time at Moderna it was amazing! I worked with a great team. I was there from the start of the new department helped trained associates and processed engineering runs. Helped any where I could. QA team was amazing, Batch specialist were great support down to QC. Communication within the teams ON THE FLOOR was excellent I couldn’t have asked for a better team I truly enjoyed my time there. Great Benefits and Salary. The most competitive pay in the market

      Not sure what happened after the first year. But since they hired new management it went down hill. I remember never even getting a proper introduction by my new manager. Just a stale conversation about the lunch meatball sub. My supervisor was barely onsite but still would try to micro manage as if he knew how to process anything on the upstairs process anything wrong happened his go to would be sweep it under the rug or pass it off to the next shift. They want you to speak up as a “Moderna mind set” but when you speak up prepare to be targeted. I put my two weeks in and never got an exit interview.
