Pros

The heavy emphasis on culture ensures you work with other people who are incredibly talented and hardworking

Cons

Sink or swim--no training. You're dropped right into the deep end of the pool. Even if you ask for expectations for the role, you will not get it. The response is "you figure it out." There are no templates, standardized processes and the data is disparate, but you will be held accountable for all these shortcomings. The company literally grew overnight and has no idea how to scale. You will spend 9 hours per day on the phone and then need to find time before or after work to get time to actually work. People are afraid to take PTO bc missing a day is like missing a week. People respond to emails and chats even when they're off work--it is and unspoken expectation. If you make a mistake, expect to be flogged--there is no leader that will help guide you or support you if things go awry.

Pros

Exposure to billing in other states, exposure to account set up and behind the scenes in the full RCM cycle. Learning to understand how "global services" operates.

Cons

The company pretends to be transparent. In actually everything is done behind the scenes and in secret. Apparently, there is a "I hate Modernizing Medicine" hate group on Facebook, there were many corporate meetings held to discuss this and to ALWAYS provide positive reviews as employees. Very much a cult-type environment, decisions are made before discussion, Roseville in particular is full of non-professional bullies. Everyone is out for themselves and nobody really cares what happens to ModMed as a company, as long as they get free drinks, happy hour, lunch and bagel Friday -combined with the free ability to cuss and have sexually explicit conversations in the office, it's fair game.

Violations of the ADA

Pros

The fruit and nuts. The abundance of alcohol and parties.

Cons

MMI violates the ADA. They force employees to use up PTO with FLMA. Then you have no PTO left. They do not allow remote work for disabilities, even though we have remote employees from Canada to South America. This is in violation of EEOC where it states, 'if an employer does offer telework, it must allow employees with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in such a program.' They do not allow or offer part-time employment. Which could help ease the burden for some employees who are sick and with frequent appointments. If you do take PTO, they expect you to work. They even call and make sure you are working while you are out sick or on vacation. Any employee who has filed long-term FLMA has not received promotions. FLMA employees are targeted by management and worse by HR. Their goal is to get the disabled to quit. When reasonable accommodations are brought up that are on the Askjan site, they are ignored. None of the accommodations would cost anything to MMI.
