      New York, or don't bother

      Pros

      The stock will be worth a lot one day.

      Cons

      There is only one engineering office, and that is in New York city. There are engineers in other offices, but they are not recognized to be part of anything and are actively discouraged. Engineers in other offices used to be given false hopes of being able to contribute - until now recently management have come clean and tell you right up that the New York personnel is being promoted in stead of you because.. they are in New York.

      East coast hipster geek haven

      Pros

      - Very "techy" startup for being on the East Coast. No social media pointlessness. If you like technical challenges and don't like corporations this is the place to be. - Transparent work culture. - Great, smart, dedicated co-workers. - Lots of individual responsibility across the board. - An actual chance to make an impression on an entire software technology vertical.

      Cons

      - Messy and changing management and sales structure. - Lack of coherent message and strategy internally. - The company is in a great place technology and market impression wise, but struggling to monetize open source and hence changes strategy very often.

      Outstanding technology Extremely bright co-workers Fast growing company Customers love the product. The vast majority of your colleagues are fun

      Cons

      All senior leadership positions are filled with outsiders. Opportunities for advancement are null. One person is promoted to manager for every 20 senior VP positions with folks from MarkLogic. Some egos are a little bit "too" big.
