Pros

Peers are pleasant to work with and willing to help each other. My direct manager is one of the best I've worked with and genuinely cares about the team. The office respects employees’ time off and vacations. Work-life balance is overall OK. Good employee benefits, albeit recent decline. Product enhancement releases used to be slow, but recently have picked up speed. Lots of recent exciting updates

Cons

The commission structure is arcane, incentivizing cross-team competition rather than collaboration. It also heavily penalizes individuals for factors beyond their control. When these are finally addressed after a few years, much damage has been done. There have been multiple missteps in hiring Account Executives (AEs). Many newer AEs lack the technical expertise required to sell a complex product like MongoDB, and surprisingly few are willing to learn. This places an undue burden on SAs.

Pros

When I joined, the culture felt collaborative, values-driven, and supportive. There was a strong emphasis on growth and inclusion, and I worked with many capable and dedicated colleagues.

Cons

Over time, the environment changed substantially. The culture became increasingly political, and advancement appeared more relationship-driven than performance-driven. Transparency around role changes and workforce reductions felt inconsistent with public messaging, which created confusion and mistrust internally. In my experience, raising concerns through formal channels did not result in meaningful resolution. The environment became highly competitive and, at times, emotionally taxing. What was once a collaborative culture shifted into one that felt siloed and difficult to navigate. There was a noticeable gap between stated values around inclusion and how decisions were experienced at the team level.
