Pros

The management and teams are very respectful, friendly, and accommodating. You are given three months to go into deep learning when you start. There is no pressure placed on you to be instantly productive. Mistakes are reviewed in a blameless fashion. You can make mistakes and not be punished. They really just want you to grow. They are working with a lot of the best tools that will look good for your resume. Fantastic compensation and benefits. I only left because the work role just didn't fit me personally. I probably should have stayed longer and tried to find another role.

Cons

I'm not sure there are any cons for the company itself. Every company will have some people who don't match well personality-wise but I experienced very few people hard to work with. The engineering work is very technical and mongodb is a complex database. Be sure the work is what you want.

Pros

smartest people i have ever worked with, common to meet with CTOS and VPs of top startups / companies, great culture, great product, love working with companies in all industries and learning about cool applications people have created. development is best in class. if you can sell at mongo you can go sell anywhere and be set for life. best in class coaching, training, career development. work life balance is fine IF you are keeping up with your day to day and pacing for quota. promotions are truly given to those who earn them which can be good or bad. even if you're hitting 300% of quota every q, you still need to be showing your work and exhibiting other traits to be promoted. personally i like this better than just promoting those who get lucky a few times but can't show their work.

Cons

- not so much a con as a warning STEEP learning curve if you come from any industry outside of databases. and i mean STEEP. if you come from a "tech startup" that maybe sells like a few products that's cool but this is 100000x more complex than that. - recently there have been people let go and they are refusing to call them layoffs. more are in the works and there is stress company wide about who will be affected next - benefits could be better. no 401k match, health insurance is just "fine" - tons of change in a short period of time. constantly changing comp plans, the way we approach the sales process, etc. - the logic behind these changes makes sense but it's a lot to handle sometimes.

Pros

- Healthy work life balance - Company and product space have feasible growth trajectory - High quality software engineers - Significant value placed on communication skills - Hiring process and company culture effectively screens out high-ego individuals

Cons

- not the type of product where you can "move fast and break things" - it's hard to explain databases to your family/ friends when they ask what you do for a living. Prepare to seem like the most boring person at the party!
